Familylinks is part of Mission Australia’s Communities for Children partnership program, funded by the Australian Government. As part of the program, Familylinks provides supported playgroups for children 0-6 years within five local Mount Druitt primary schools as well as facilitating a variety of other programs.
Free supported playgroups
Playgroup supports children 0-6 years, from all backgrounds and all abilities. Our facilitators are early childhood trained and our program is designed to promote inclusion and develop skills through play-based activities. We encourage children to explore, investigate and problem-solve, and most importantly have lots of fun!
Free parenting programs, workshops, information sessions and more
Our parenting programs are designed to support, inform, educate, build confidence and develop new skills. We can also assist parents in recognising developmental concerns and provide links to the relevant community, medical or early intervention service providers.
This program is currently offered in selected Mount Druitt primary schools. DRUMBEAT is an award-winning evidence-based structured learning program for adults and children. We use African Djembe drums and combine music, psychology and neurobiology to build social and emotional resilience and healthy relationship skills. If you’re interested in running a program at your school, organisation or company please contact us.
Parent-Child Mother Goose program
Parent-Child Mother Goose is an evidence-based program that strengthens attachment and interaction between parents or carers and their young children by introducing them to the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs and stories together. Through the program, parents gain skills and confidence that help them create positive family patterns during their children’s crucial early years. At the same time, children benefit from enjoyable, healthy early experiences with language and communication.
Parent-Child Mother Goose is particularly suitable for parents and carers who need extra support because of their own personal or social circumstances, or because their children have special needs or are otherwise at risk.
1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching
The 1,2,3 Magic® program is designed to provide parents with the skills to help them in their parenting role. The program is run over three sessions and is for parents of children from the ages of 2 and 12 years. Each session provides information about child development, common problems faced by parents and ways of making parenting more enjoyable.
Circle of Security® Parenting™
Circle of Security® Parenting™ is a relationship-based parenting program that helps parents to look beyond children’s behaviours and focus more on the quality of the relationship they have with their children. The program is held over an 8week period and uses video and discussion to introduce the Circle of Security map. The map provides parents with an opportunity to understand their child’s emotional needs, help them to manage their emotions and help them to build their child’s self- esteem.
