Language and literacy

Our school holiday language and literacy group programs are designed for children in Kindergarten to Year 2. Facilitated by experienced speech-language pathologists, your child will join in engaging activities targeting vital reading and writing skills – such as receptive and expressive language and phonological awareness. The interactive sessions will include structured (tabletop) and play-based activities, so your child has fun while developing vital language and literacy skills.

What we’ll work on

The language group will target:

  • Following simple and complex instructions
  • Expanding vocabulary
  • Using age-appropriate sentences
  • Answering ‘wh’ questions (who, what, where, when, why)
  • Social skills – turn-taking, sharing, playing cooperatively with others

The literacy group will target:

  • Recognising and producing rhyme
  • Breaking words up into their syllables
  • Isolating sounds in words
