Christmas comes early in Penrith

After being cancelled in 2020 and 2021, Growing Early Minds were delighted to attend and celebrate Penrith City Council’s iconic Christmas Tree Lighting event on 18 November 2022.

Senior Operations Manager, Cindy Price, said the event had been a great way to reconnect us back into the community after a rough couple of years.

“Christmas has come early for us – this is not only our favourite time of year but being able to attend community events is also at the top of our favourites lists. It is a relief to be back engaging with people face-to-face, especially if the opportunity involves catching up with our clients on a social basis and outside regular therapy sessions.”

“We had our team of Growing Early Minds elves there who helped set up our crafts stations where we had about 600 children participate in various festive-based craft activities. We handed out over 300 helium balloons, 150 playdough kits with a DIY recipe card attached, and 50 take-home craft packs. It was a busy, fun and rewarding night for our team of elves!”

“Some of the magical highlights included the lighting of the Christmas tree in Memory Park, seeing Santa and meeting buddy the elf, the stage entertainment, all the food trucks and, of course, seeing our Penrith families and the joy this event brought. There is something special about this time of year!”

To wrap up, we wanted to acknowledge Penrith CBD Corporation for putting together a fantastic event. We look forward to attending many more events in the future – provided there are no other lockdowns.
